Signing at Comics Corner and win an original illustration !

Published by Suisei at 14/12/2019 à 20h45

Hi everyone !

I'm so overwhelmed these days that I forgot to tell you some things.

Book signing session at the Comics Corner

Tomorrow, Sunday, December 15, I will be signing at the Comics Corner, in Paris, with Marvin Traoré, Jean-Christophe Nollet and Lionel Calméjane, on the occasion of an afternoon dedicated to Star Wars to celebrate the final episode of the saga ! :D

I made a small poster especially for this event. :)

the session will start at 2:30 pm. On the page of Comics Corner it is announced that it should last until 7pm, but due to the strikes, I may not be able to stay until the end (the problem will probably be the same for the other artists).

As usual I will present you my comics already released, in particular Dragon Cat's to stay in the Star Wars theme as well as the original pages of the current projects including Tarkhan. :)

Win an original illustration

In addition, to celebrate the end of the new Star Wars trilogy, I offer you a little game to win the originals of my poster!

To participate, it's simple, just play my game (coded with my little hands) Star Wars - Space Battle here: https://www.suiseipark.com/StarWars-SpaceBattle/

The one who make the highest score between today and January 15, 2020 included will win the prize! :D

So get on your keyboards and jump into your X-Wing!

Good night and see you tomorrow at Comics Corner! :D

New job and Tarkhan's progress

Published by Suisei at 01/12/2019 à 15h45
Updated by Suisei at 01/12/2019 à 15h23

Hi, everyone!

After a few weeks of absence, I owe you some news about the Tarkhan project.
Nothing serious, don't worry. :)

Tarkhan's progress has slowed down recently for a very simple reason, I have not much savings and drawing comics doesn't allow me to live, so I had to look for a new job. So I had to spend the last few weeks writing cover letters and running after the interviews instead of drawing. (Yes, we do more exciting as a hobby.)

Don't worry, I've found a job and I'm starting on Monday. :)

It will only be in the evening and on weekends, but at least I can finally work on the comic pages again. There are still 7 pages left, then the retouching and halftones (I updated the progress bars). I will also be able to give news more often and make live work sessions on Twitch. I have to know my new schedules first and I think I will propose one soon.

Well, I'm sorry, but I'm still not very good at deadlines and I always tend to overestimate my production rate. I always want to go faster, produce more, but my enthusiasm is often overtaken by reality. I think the simplest thing is that in the future I only launch a crowdfunding when the comic book to be financed is finished.
That said, imposing deadlines on myself, even if I don't always keep them, encourages me to be regular as possible and to progress.

Otherwise, this summer, I had sent a small form by email to all contributors to ask them for their choice of visuals and other useful information for the rewards. Some of them replied (and I thank them for that) but not all. I will therefore send a short reminder email shortly so that those who have not yet replied can let me know their choices.

That's all for today.
In any case, I thank you for your patience, I go back to work on my comic page and keep you informed. :)
I wish you a good Sunday.

Tarkhan's progress and coloring of a DBM illustration on Twitch

Published by Suisei at 09/10/2019 à 15h45

Today, I come to give you news about the progress of the Tarkhan Skullkiller comic book and propose a future live session on Twitch to color an illustration about Dragon Ball Multiverse.

Progress of the Tarkhan Skullkiller comic book

The inking of the comic strip Tarkhan Skullkiller progress slowly, but surely.
I'm finishing a series of pages full of backgrounds and enemy armies and then I begin to ink the final battle of the adventure.
After the one I'm showing you here, I still have 14 more to ink.
As usual, I took care to update the progress bars on the Ulule page.

WIP of the page number 53.
Having been a little hasty, I realize that I will be able to organize an architectural errors hunt when the book is published. x)

So, as I am a little late, if there are any among you, dear friends/readers/contributors, who want to propose fanarts to make a collection at the end of the comic book, our messenger services are always open! :D
To inspire you, the presentation of the characters is always available on Ulule and the beginning of the comic is freely readable here.

Our friend Kapalsky offered us a great illustration that captures the personality of our two heroes! =D

Colouring a Dragon Ball Multiverse illustration on Twitch

Last Sunday I participated in the animation of the Dragon Ball Multiverse stand in Paris Manga by making drawings for readers and fans.
Between the visitors' requests, I have inked the following illustration.

The confrontation between Vegeta and Cell is announced in the tournament table that you can consult on the DBM website and I can tell you that the fangirl that I am of these two characters is looking forward to read this duel. :D

I have planned to make a color version and I propose you to do it tomorrow (Thursday, October 10) live on Twitch from 6:30 PM ! :D

Now I get back to my inking work and wish you a nice day.
See you soon!

Normandiebulle 2019 and progress of Tarkhan

Published by Suisei at 19/09/2019 à 15h45

Normandiebulle 2019

Good morning, everyone!

Today, I come to announce that I will be present for the next festival Normandiebulle with a nice bunch of author and my partner Marialexie ! :D

The festival will take place on 28 and 29 September in Darnétal.
All the practical informations are available on this page of the Normandiebulle website.

As usual, I will present you my comics, my originals iilustrations, and various prints with pretty signing sketches. :D
I'm not sure I have enough space to install the video game this year. I'll see how I can handle it on the spot.

Progress of the Tarkhan Skullkiller comic book

The inking of the comic book pages Tarkhan Skullkiller is progressing at a good pace.
70% of the pages are inked and there are still 20 pages to be done.
I took care to update the progress bars on the Ulule page.

Unfortunately, despite the sleepless nights and very long working days, we will not be able to offer you the comic book during Normandiebulle.
The comic pages will be finished, I will have the originals of the pages on my stand, but the printer will not be able to have the comics delivered on time.

On the one hand, it's not a big deal because no contributor who has already financed the comic book has announced that they want to get their reward at the festival, on the other hand it's quite frustrating because it's only a few days away and we would have liked to proudly expose the finished comic book. (That'll teach me to want to break productivity records.)

In any case, we are at the end of the tunnel and the sending of rewards can start during the first half of October.

Inktober 2019 ?

Yes! October is coming soon!

I must confess that for this one, I'm going to pass. After producing a little over 100 pages of comics (spread over 3 different projects) in the space of a summer, my body began to be very tired and deserved a short break. x)

I think I can be satisfied that I have achieved this level of productivity by not having to commit almost any deviations from the usual quality of my work.
For that, I thank Alberto Varanda for everything he taught me last spring and Beaux-Arts & Entertainment which allowed this evening class. All these new methods and tips and tricks have increased my effectiveness tenfold. :D

I'm going to have to take the time to publish all this on my Tipeee and Patreon pages that I had to put a little aside until I finished all these comics.

Now I get back to my inking work and wish you a nice day.
See you soon!

I'm leaving social networks

Published by Suisei at 02/09/2019 à 15h45
Updated by Suisei at 02/09/2019 à 10h47

Hi everyone!

I'm posting this news to let you know that I'm leaving social networks.
I've been thinking about it for months and using them less and less. Today, I am making it official.

Ten years ago, I liked to share on the Internet. I had my own little blog that I could customize at will (it still exists) and that was all. No dispersion. There were some interactions with my family and friends from time to time. It was a pleasure. We were taking our time.

Today it has become a chore. We have to chase after 50 different platforms, all more saturated than the others, not customizable and that decide for people what they want to see. We are submerged with more and more content. And to be visible, we are exhausted producing and posting more and more content that is less and less seen and with fewer and fewer interactions.

The Internet at the beginning of the 2020s: everyone posts but nobody sees anything. A dialogue of the deaf.

I may have bent over backwards to succeed in automating the publication of my news on social networks using the tools they make available to developers, it still remains a black hole of time and energy. We can't leave all this alone. It requires some maintenance.
Twitter, Tumblr and Blogger are ok, their development tools work well. It's been running for two years without me having to do anything. Just check from time to time if there are any comments or not. DeviantArt worked well for 2 years, but they've broken everything recently with their new version. I have to develop it all over again and I don't have time for that. The prize for the most of troubles goes to Facebook, which is a headache black hole.
Facebook's tools change all the time, it's often buggy and unstable and you always have to check if their service has worked well or not. You must constantly monitor to find out what is working or not, what has changed in terms of format, and undergo the removal of features that were very useful.
Out of development tools, we are still more and more users to find that the basic features that made the platform successful are more and more buggy and that instead of repair them, Facebook's developpers are scattered on unnecessary gadgets that will be overused for 3 months and then forgotten.
Their new 3D effect is nice, but I would like to be able to share a publication on my wall without systematically seeing it land on one of my pages instead or see an error popup...
And then this slowness.... It's getting slower and slower to load. I feel like I have a rural connection while I am connected to the fibre optic in the middle of a big city. -_-

In addition, their policy is increasingly hidding artist pages. Now we have to pay for our subscribers to see what we post. We are talking about subscribers, not just any stranger who might go through that. Facebook talks about refocusing on more family use, which says a lot about the relevance of this platform to share your art. Add to that the saturation of content.
Let's not even talk about Instagram which is completely corrupted with bots and fake accounts. That's also painful.

Facebook aside, on other platforms there is always a small feature here and there that is not available to automate. So there's always a little something to do by hand.

In short, there are hundreds of hours of work to take care of your communication on social networks to have the impression of screaming in a cushion. I don't see a sign of evolution, on the contrary, I see a decrease in interaction. In the end, it's no use.

This time and energy, I would like to devote them to focusing on my comics and other creations instead of giving me headaches with social networks. My morale and creativity will be much better, not to mention my productivity. After all, today almost all of my audience is made up of people I have met IRL and with whom I can maintain private contact. So in the end, it's not a big loss for me.

So I decided to move away from all this to refocus and devote my time to what I like to do: comics and games. It will make me more productive.

My automated systems for publishing my news, illustrations and comic pages will continue to run on their own, but I will hardly ever set foot in them again myself. I will no longer maintain them. And the day when some change causes these automatons to stop working, well, it won't work anymore. And it won't matter.

From now on, when I write programs, it will only be to add content to my website or to develop games.

How do we contact you and follow your news then?

To begin, I would like to remind you that there was an Internet before social networks and that people were able to contact eachother.
Good news!
This Internet still exists! :D

To follow the news of my comics or games, there is always my website and its newsletter or my Discord server or even Tipeee and Patreon and my Ulule projects. My old blog is also still running. To contact me there is the contact form of my website and Discord too.

Here is the list of addresses to remember:

My website : https://www.suiseipark.com (Come on, the content loads faster than Facebook! 8D )
My newsletter : https://www.suiseipark.com/Newsletter/
My blog (French) : http://suiseipark.blogspot.com
Tipeee (French) : https://fr.tipeee.com/suisei
Patreon : https://www.patreon.com/suisei

My youtube channel with my process videos or game demos : https://youtube.com/channel/UCa5PWLnqA3g6dzg29cr2LpQ
My Twitch channel for when I'm in the mood to work live : https://www.twitch.tv/suiseikillfaeh

If you read this news from my Facebook page, please note that a link to my website is available on the page.

Now, with all these links, the one who can't contact me or follow my news is someone who doesn't want to. :p (You have the right, but don't say you're fans. Be honest. It's all I want. ;) )

About my artist friends, I will no longer share their work via Facebook, but directly on suiseipark.com. It is the opportunity to write more consistent articles about their work. :p

In fact, all these trendy social networking platforms do not stand the test of time, because they change according to their success, impose more or less restrictive rules on you and finally grow and fade with the times.
So I think that in the long term, you don't just have to be present on these things, you have to have a little corner of your own web that stands the test of time. At least a blog, at best your own website with your own domain name. There are lots of tools to help you if you don't master the technical aspect. If you are only present on trendy platforms, you are like an idiot if this one falls apart while if you have a website, there will always be someone to find you in the storm.

Trendy platforms are a rough sea where it is difficult to navigate and find your way around, your website is your little rock to keep you safe.

On this little metaphor I am going to make all these links to social networks disappear on my website, my pages and my business cards and I will take the time to look after my little home that is suiseipark.com. :p

Have a nice day and see you soon!

Suisei

PS: I invite all friends to put their links to their websites, blogs and newsletters in the comments so that I can follow their work elsewhere than on social networks. And if you don't have one, create one! :p

Summer holidays 2019

Published by Suisei at 26/07/2019 à 15h45

Hi everyone!

I am here to inform you that I am going on holiday from 26 July 2019 to 13 August 2019. This means that if you place an order on the shop during this period, I will only be able to process it when I return.

Also note that I am going to a place where there is no telephone network or Internet network, so I will be unreachable during this period.

Do you see the trees? Do you see the hills? Well, 3G and telephone network are rare and wild animals.
Yes, yes, yes! We are in France in 2019!

Of course, I'm not going to twiddle my thumbs, I'm taking the Tarkhan Skullkiller's pages to continue working on them.
I just updated the progress bars on Ulule, Tipeee and Patreon. Half of the final pencil is finished. I think I'll have finished this phase by the time I get back.

That's all for today!
I wish you nice holidays and see you soon! :D

Tarkhan Skullkiller on Ulule, reward options

Published by Suisei at 22/07/2019 à 15h45

Hi everybody!

The list of illustrations that you can choose if you have chosen a reward with prints during the Ulule campaign for our comic book Tarkhan Skullkiller is updated ! :D

Here is the complete list of illustrations you can choose from. Of course, the smiley will not be part of the print if you choose Tarkhan in the river. x)

Therefore, we will very quickly send you a form where you can indicate the options you want for your reward (choice of illustration for prints, choice of character for sketch in the book and commissions).

Other project owners on Ulule have informed us that Ulule news does not always reach the contributors' mailboxes, so to be sure that everyone receives this form, we will send it directly by email, without using Ulule's services.

Also note that 5 people won an additional A4 poster in a small random game (on which we miscommunicated, we are sorry for this clumsiness ^^' ) and that we will ask the winners to choose an additional illustration among the 6 proposed for this poster.

That's all for today!
Have a nice day and see you soon! :D
